As an acclaimed big band saxophonist, Bobby Dukoff was in high demand to “touch up” his colleagues’ mouthpieces, which made him to produce his own line of saxophone mouthpieces out of his garage in California. His early mouthpieces are highly sought after collector pieces.

Description: On the left is a Dukoff M7 tenor mouthpiece from the late 1990s. It is made of ‘Silverite’ (pewter), which is a tin alloy (98% tin, 2% copper).

Description: On the left is a “new old stock” Dukoff D9 (yellow) brass tenor mouthpiece that is gold plated over a silver layer, giving a darker honey color. In general, older Dukoff mouthpieces were made of brass while newer models are made of ‘silverite’. Early versions of the Super Power Chamber model were made of nickel-plated brass.

Description: These Bob Dukoff mouthpieces were made starting around 1945, and have very large chambers with very deep rounded inner walls similar to early Otto Link NY mouthpieces. A tenor model with a 5* tip opening is shown on the left.
On the left is a closeup of a soprano ‘M’ model. Note the cutout ring at the baffle. The effect of the ring was likely to take away some of the brightness of the mouthpiece.
